THE FIRST THOUGHTS

BACKGROUND

Since a trip around the world in 1993 it was clear that we would go on another big tour at some point, preferably around the world. And if possible before we are old and gray and we can no longer physically manage it.
The global changes - climate, politics, economy, etc. - have also increased the desire to start the project earlier than originally thought.

THE FIRST THOUGHTS

In June 2020, I had the first thoughts that we should maybe plan the project. Experience, above all from professional life, has shown that those who do not formulate a goal and work out a way to achieve it, will rarely make a start at all.

FROM "A" TO "B" - BUT WITH WHAT

RV was the first option but not really ideal for seeing the world. There are a few oceans between the continents. In addition, a mobile home is not necessarily the most environmentally friendly means of transport. So why not with a sailboat?

SAILING EXPERIENCE - NOPE

Small side thing, neither I nor my Larissa can shine with sailing experience! I used to sail a little with small catamarans in Australia and a flat bottom boat on the IJsselmeer. I've also tried windsurfing, just like surfing. But really sailing? Not really!

Nevertheless, we are not deterred by such small bumps on the way to the big goal, and time is still our friend. You can learn anything, even in the mid-50s, hopefully...
